The Chesapeake Police Department offers two types of etchings. VIN Etching on your vehicle windows and Catalytic Converter Etching. These are done independently and at separate specific events and are not offered together.

Dual Protection

Two free etching services

We mark both the glass and the metal to ensure your vehicle is fully documented and highly visible to deterrent systems.

Catalytic Converter Etching

VIN Glass Etching

We use a Pin Dot etching gun to apply your VIN directly to your converter, and use a bright colored spray paint, linking the part permanently to your vehicle's registration.

Chemical stencil etching on all major window glass, making stolen parts virtually impossible for thieves to resell.
